Vista - help with itunes

Hello

I am having trouble installing iTunes on windows vista 32bit. It downloads ok but when i try to run it error msg is ' itunes setup is not a valid win 32 application'
i have checked and version 8 iTunes should be compatible with vista.
I can't even install quicktime.

Can anyone help?

I have exactly the same problem - have downloaded iTunes 7.2 as this is meant to be more compatible with Vista than 8, but when I try to install it (open/run) I get the same error message.

Same goes for Quicktime.

The most frustrating thing is that I did have itunes installed and working no problem for the last year & a half, but uninstalled Quicktime in an attempt to get better performance, without realising that its needed for itunes. Please help!

Cause: you get this error when your browser is not downloading the entire file and is just downloading a part of the file.
Go to itunes.exe properties and check the downloaded file size.
Resolution: Try a different browser.
create a new user account and try downloading and installing itunes...

Unfortunately neither of the 2 suggestions have worked...I tried everything and at all different hours of the day and night to download itunes in2 different browers, but to no avail....the download would start (SLOWLY) and then never complete. I was convinced that my laptop must have a virus, so I bought the top of the range McAfee virus software, installed it, expecting to find a million virus alerts - NOT ONE.

So now I have no idea why my windows vista laptop that was running itunes a couple of months ago no prob, wont download it?!? I need music

If anyone has any ideas I'll be forever indebted...

Have you tried to download it on another computer (with another internet connection) and just put it on a USB?

Yup, that's my back-up plan, mattinahat. Unfortunately everyone I know has macs and at work (where we have PCs) we have to be administrators to download programs. There must be someone in this city that can throw me a copy!
