Can't Use Windows Desktop Search

I am using Vista Ultimate 64-Bit version on my HP dv6550en laptop with 4 Gb ram. I was a Google Desktop User before I upgraded to vista, so I wanted to give it a shot and force installed google desktop 32 bit on Vista x64. However I saw that it did not work properly so I chose to uninstall it.

My problem started after that. I can still use the "start search" in the start menu, and it returns some results which means windows search is working. However, when I choose "search everywhere" an error message tells me "application not found" The application in this case is most probably google desktop search which did not uninstall properly since it was designed for the 32 bit version.

This is an error I realized only today although I was messing around with google desktop months ago so a system restore is not possible. I need to use the search facilities. What do I need to do?
