Dear All,

I have been using windows live mail since quite a few time now.
While I logged in to my msn messenger today it asked me to update as there was a new version available.
I did that and alongwith messenger it updated and installed other programs as well.
It updated my WLM and gave it a new look. I NOW HAVE VERSION 2009 (BUILD 14.0.8064.0206)
I was happy to see the inbuilt calender which was not there earlier.
But what it did with my contacts was shoking.
I have 1197 contacts in my Windows Live Mail Contacts.
It is showing all 1197 names but only showing emails of about a 100 contacts. Rest all email addresses are lost, only their names are there.
THIS IS REALLY SHOCKING. I HAVE LOST ALL MY EMAIL ADDRESSES IN CONTACTS. THIS IS A BIG LOSS. PLEASE HELP ME.

Please tell me how this problem can be resolved and why did this happen?

I am eagerly awating your reply.

PLEASE HELP ME.

REGARDS,

TARUN MAKKAR

Hi All,

This same problem happened to me, plus I have some additional info.

Just like the earlier poster, I am a longtime user of Windows Live Mail. I was prompted to update and did so, and liked a number of improvements.

However, the email addresses of my contacts had been removed, along with all info other than just the contact names. The number of contact names is unchanged, and as far as I can tell, all the same names are there. The few email addresses that do remain (about 20 out of 500) were all used recently, AFTER the first launch of the previous WLM version on this computer, which is new since February. My guess is that these email addresses were automatically added per the preference setting "add email addresses to contacts after third reply."

Here is the added info: when I tried to import my contacts again from a CSV file, it didn't work. A window came up saying that the program was updating my contacts, and it took a REMARKABLY long time, but after it finished, I was left with the same scenario. My CSV file is still good, but WLM will not work with it.

I'm out of ideas. Please help.

Thanks to all in advance.

SOLUTION:

All email addresses show up again if you SIGN INTO WINDOWS LIVE.

Use the "sign in" button near the upper right hand corner of WLM. After you sign in, check your contacts list again.

For me, anyway, all the email addresses were back.

I hope this helps. I got the idea to try it from another thread.

I have a similar problem. Windows Live Mail has lost all contacts. Scenario was using the Brother MFP to scan an image and send it via email. I switched to Windows Live Mail as the default mail application from Windows Mail in the Brother control program. However, Windows Live Mail immediately lost all its contacts. The folder is empty. I am switching back to Windows Mail.
