Internet Explorer 8 Problem

Every time I shut down the internet I get a message stating internet has stopped working this is very annoying. Does anyone have any idea how to correct this?

Re: Internet Explorer 8 Problem

Me too -- although sometimes I get a message box with the option to either 1. repair the problem and close IE, or 2. close IE without repairing the problem. Funny thing though -- if I have other IE tabs open, it doesn't actually shut IE down after either option is chosen.

Re: Internet Explorer 8 Problem

i had this and could not get rid of it, (only on IE8), so in frustration i changed to FIREFOX, end of problem

Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable | Mozilla Europe

i know this is not everybodys ideal solution and there will be hard core IE fans choking on their cornflakes but it works for me.

Re: Internet Explorer 8 Problem

Just got the download for IE8 today thur windows update. It has allready stoped working four times while I was trying to read my online newspaper. Each time I would get the same message as Dullyjock. It them started working ok so I will wait and see what happens. If it messes up again I will do a system restore and go back to IE7. I really like the IE 7 better so can someone tell me the advanage of IE8 over IE7?

Re: Internet Explorer 8 Problem

Is there a way to go back to IE7. I'd be happy to do that. I really don't like IE8. If anyone knows where I can get a IE7 download please let me know.

Re: Internet Explorer 8 Problem

Dullujock, here is the information I printed off. I don't know if others had this problem but when I tried to open attachments in window mail IE 8 could not. After I reinstalled IE 7 they open just fine. Hope this helps.
IE8‏

Steps for Windows Vista or for Windows Server 2008

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category
  4. In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.
  5. In the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 8.

  1. Note If Windows Internet Explorer 8 does not appear in the list of installed updates, try the alternative steps for Windows Vista or for Windows Server 2008.
  2. In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
  3. Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
  4. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
After you have finished, go to the "Did the "Let me fix it myself" steps fix the problem?" section to verify that your earlier version of Internet Explorer is restored
