I just received my PC from cyberpowerpc.com I created my user accounts and i had some problems, basically i have 2 of the same accounts on the vista login screen, initially it is one account icon, but when i hit switch users it shows 2 of the same accounts. When i go to manage user accounts it only shows one account along with the guest. Also first thing when i turn on the PC before the login screen, i get "error, invalid user name or password" even though i have not entered anything yet. it may be trying to automatically login, i'm not sure, if so how do i turn that off. Anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks!

See the tutorials on managing user accounts in the Tutorials forum. It shows how to turn password on and off, set up Administrator account etc..

Did the machine come with OS preinstalled or are you installing from a Vista disc? If you don't need the stuff on the machine you can wipe clean(if you have the Vista install disc that is.) Otherwise you'll just have to mess around with account settings.

The quick fix might be if you have a restore point dated before all this crap started happening. ;)

Hey.. Just solved this problem for a customer of mine.

Hopefully you are comfortable with Regedit.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon Now expand the WinLogon and on the right side change the value of "autoadminlogon" from 1 to 0.

Now that this is done, the duplicate account is gone, and no error at startup!

Good luck
