I got it and it's pretty useful. I just don't get how we will be able to boot using WinPE when we don't get one from giveawayoftheday as the CD comes with the retail version.

    Hi Ronrontiu,

If you installed the software on your computer, you can create the bootable CD which you might use to create the backup and to restore your PC from the backup.
To create the CD open the Paragon Drive Backup program, in the menu bar click Tools and select Recovery Media Builder. When Recovery Media Builder opens Follow the instructions to make your own Recovery disc.

    Cheers...

Re: Paragon Drive Backup 9.0 Professional Edition

I have the Personal v. 9.0 on my dual core machine. It works fine on W7 build 7077. I saw the gotd but I figure it's not broken so I'm not gonna' fix it. The only advice I have is burn the recovery CD, then boot it. Start to do the restore. If there is hardware on your system it doesn't like, such as fake Raid like on my quad core, the video will go wacky and the restore program will crash. If it goes into the restore app normally, you should be okay.

The other piece of advice is, I'd be a bit wary of making the backup capsule on Vista. Twice I had this hose my partition table. On my fake Raid quad core, Macrium Reflect 4.2 can see the fake Raid just fine. But these utilities will vary by hw setup. If it likes all your hw then you're usually in very good shape. The moral of the story being, don't just assume it will boot the disaster recovery CD and restore just dandy. Go through the process and try it out. These freebies are good because you get to try it, whereas usually the Paragon trial versions are just demos.

It's a good software with good features as long as you don't get stuck in "compatibility mode" which means a 45 minute restore can take 9 hours, as I found out on my quad core!! Test it before you count on it, esp. with any disaster recovery software. It's a real bummer if you get surprises while you're already pulling your hair out because your system won't boot. On my dual core I've restored several times without a problem. So I'm not saying it's bad sw. Just saying make sure it likes your hw.
