Access Denied

BitDefender asked me to find a file for them under C/Documents and Settings. They want to look at this file to help solve a little problem I'm having.

The folder icon for Documents and Settings has a little white box with a blue arrow in it and when I click on it: C:/Documents and Settings is not accessible. Access denied.

I note that there are other folders in C the same way and I can't open them either. Why is this?

Re: Access Denied

BitDefender might not have appropriate permissions to access the folder (or see below). If you can find the .exe you can edit its permissions. I probably wouldn't as a safety measure, you don't want your AV 'finding' false positives and deleting OS files.

As for some of the other folders on C:\, one of which is System Volume Information, they are protected by the OS as they store important information pertinent to the operation of the OS.

Re: Access Denied

OK, thanks. BD emailed and asked me to send a screen shot of the message I got denying access to guess we'll see what happens.
