I have got my new dell inspiron 1525 laptop with vista basic installed in it.Now I want to remove it and install xp into it..so when Im booting the xp cd from CD-RW drive..the xp cd is loading all drivers fine but then its giving this error..

A problem has baeen detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to ur computer

Remove any newly installed hard drives...check ur hardrive to make sure it is properply configured and terminated.Run chkdsk /f to check harddrive corruption and then restart ur computer..

I have checked it by running chkdsk /f command it is not reporting any failure...everthing is fine...wt could be the problem??...

Any help will be highly appreciated....

Re: vista problem...

shravan156,

It is not a problem with your pc, Vista when installed it loads two BIOS Configurations, one is the default that all windows loads, the other is a "Hidden" one that prevents users from erasing Vista, What you need to do, is get a DOS 6.22 Bootdisk or similar and FDISK the BIOS, then choose to view all installations, it will show you the Drive Vista is installed on, and the two BIOS Configs, just Delete Both BIOS Configs, then go back to FDISK, and Format the PC, and then put your XP Disk in and install your XP on it. I have done this method millions of times, and learned from hard knocks the Crap Vista pulls to stay on your PC, lmao. Also make sure you have ALL drivers for XP for Inspiron 1525, and I can tell you now, Dells Wireless Driver for WiFi will NOT Work on Inspiron, you will have to get another driver from:
and Here:
Googles Search for the Problem:

Good Luck My friend, and welcome back to the XP World...
