Windows DVD Maker

Hi all,

I'm using Windows DVD Maker for the first time and burning an AVI file that is approximately 84 minutes long and 699 MB big.

It is, however, taking forever. The DVD will take ~3 hours to burn.

Is this normal? Or abnormal? How long should burning normally take? It seems like an awfully long time in my eyes.

My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6700 with an Intel CoreDuo 2.16 GHz processor and 4 GB of RAM.

Any ideas on how to speed up the process?

Also, any opinions of "other" DVD burning software, free or otherwise?

Thanks

Btw - the encoding process is what is taking the longest time. ~1:15 minutes and it is only 37% done (still encoding)

that is completely normal, it needs to encode the video into DVD format (VOB, IFO and BUP) so it takes a bit of time to do that, after that, it will start to burn it, which will take approximately 5-10 mins depending on the size. if you want to burn a DVD, I can suggest using nero, nero should be free with a new dvd drive(OEM), or you can buy for £20 or $35(retail), however it will still take the same amount of time to encode.
i hope this helped
