Photo Editing Progam in Vista?

Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this, so I am here. I scanned (Well not me but someone who helped me) a bunch of old photo album pages into the computer, and have them saved. What I want to do now is be able to use a photo editing program or whatever, to be able to then go in and crop each separately, and save each individual picture separately, as right now they are saved in the page format with 3-4 pictures on each. My question is, is there a program on vista home premium that makes that possible, and is it user friendly enough for a novice like me to use? Thanks a million guys!! :)

Do you just want to crop them or will you want more advanced features like removing red eye, dodging, burning, etc?

Um well the main point is being able to separate all the photos so I can save them individually, but if I can take the red eye out than that's a plus too. Either way, but I just want to be able to break up the shots into individual pictures... Thanks!

For basic corpping you could even use paint (built in) but you would quickly outgrow it. Im a long time Photoshop user and you can use it as a novice or learn it to become proficient. Its up to you. Im sure others have their own choice probably even better than mine. You can try photoshop for 30 days to see if you like it for free.

I love the Microsoft Office Picture Manager that is provided as an accessory to the Microsoft Office Suite -- but because it's not the default, most people don't even know it's there. It's a GREAT photo editing program, and you can do everything you want very easily. It's very user-friendly. To get to know all of the functions, I would take a couple of photo that you can afford to experiment with and play around with them, changing the size, cropping, changing color variations, deleting red-eye, etc. (All of the functions you mentioned can be found in the "Pictures" drop down menu.) I think you'll like it.

PS And take advantage of the Zoom slider at the bottom right side of the screen. It allows you to change the size while you're working on the photo -- so you can really zoom in or out to get the effects that you want!

OK, I'm gonna try that, but since I haven't bought office 2007 even opening this program keeps asking for my product key. I think I only get 20 times, and then what? I can't open it anymore? Most of the 20 times is gone for sure.

Yes, Picture Manager is an accessory of MS Office, so there isn't much you can do with it until your purchase one of the MS Office suites.

Wait, I thought you said it was free? I have it open now, and it IS easy to use, and I about to start working on the photo album pages I want to split up, but now your saying it isn't free? There were a WHOLE bunch of times I accidentally opened word 2007 when I was trying to use the word 97 I put on here that works fine for me, so I probably don't have many, if any, of the 20 openings left. What should I do, besides BUY it? Thanks!

Picasa is a free program from Google. I haven't tried separating photos on the same page but with the editing tools you should be able to. Just google Picasa and it will point you in the right direction. I too have used Microsoft Picture Manager. It is on the Office 07 suite but also on the 03.

I have heard of picasa, but I just spent the last couple hours in the microsoft office picture manager, and I'm DONE! Sweet!! Very good program, thanks for all of your help!! I really appreciate it. But the only question is that you said it was FREE, so how can I keep it for free?

As you know, Microsoft Picture Manager is actually an accessory to MS Office. Sorry -- when I said "free" I assumed you already had Office 2007 and Vista. By the way, Picture Manager's predecessor was Microsoft Photo Editor which was provided on most of the previous editions of Office and was virtually the same program, if not better. If you have an older application of Office, you might try the Photo Editor. It was located in Microsoft Office Tools.
