Ok so how do I enable m4v and mkv playback in windows media center in vista 64 bit premium? I have k-lite codec pack installed whick pretty much enables everything but windows media center to play just about anything... all wmc can do now is play mp3 files (lame).

That sounds like it would make the mkv vids play in divx player though... but i guess i'll try.

Hmm just installed and it didn't work either... oh well I'll just give up using a media center and just watch my videos on wmp.

Have you tried installing the Matroska Pack? Free-Codecs.com : Download Matroska Pack Full 1.1.2, Matroska Pack Lite 1.1.2 and Matroska Pack MPEG4 1.0.3 or the CCCP pack. Also, there's a hidden difficulty with WMP/MC; if you are using the x64 version of Vista it will contain both the 32- and 64-bit versions of WMP, but while Media Centre will default to 64-bit, the free-standing WMP11 will be the 32-bit version by default (!). Standardise on one (64-bit seems most sensible on Vx64) and then get the corresponding drivers. Hope at least some of this
(a) Makes sense
(b) Helps
