Frontpage Install Locks up with error

Trying to install Frontpage 2002 on my Vista with Home Premium, which begins installing and then hangs/locks up at two different .exe files (depending on the install choices) mstordb.exe or mcdlc.exe. Any ideas how to get this to install? All my websites are done in Frontpage and hosted on servers with the extensions. I dont want to recreate them in some new software and dont have any money to purchase something new any way. I did try to download some freebie WYSWIG web creation tools, but would prefer just to get my Frontpage going. Thanks for any help.

I suspect that frontpage is old enough it has to be insatlled in compatibility mode. try re-installing it by right clicking the setup, or installer, and go to properties, and compatibility. check XP sp2mode, and give it a go

Good luck

the file it is hanging on is a media catalog converting tool. IM wondering if there is an update to frontpage.

Can you go to event viewer (start>search>event viewer) and go to the windows logs, appliocation tab. Expand the tab and look for errors (red "X" in the left hand column) see if there any with frontpage as the application and let us know if there are

Dear Ken

I review the event log and there are multiple events it is showing in this log. This is the first time I have been "here", I dont know what information you may need to acquire from it...but yes they are there from all the times I have tried to install. Errors like 1305 setup cannot read the file in MsiInstaller (for frontpage).

I dont know if this means my disk is bad or if it within Vista some problem. I have installed this last on my XP puter without any problems or hangs.

Product: Microsoft FrontPage 2002 -- Error 1305. Setup cannot read file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\MCDLC.EXE. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see E:\FILES\PFILES\MSOFFICE\OFFICE10\1033\SETUP.HLP.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME.

Its why we are here. I truely like helping. when you are in event viewer and find a problem with frrontpage as the app it will list an event ID (soething like 1000) and a source code (like 120). If you cant find them type snipping in search and use the snipping tool to take a snapshot of the event with front page in it.

then upload the snip to us using the attachment icon ( its shaped like a paperclip) on the reply form.

If you need help with any of this let me know

those are Information alerts (good things) it saying the install was sucessful. If you look at mine you will see red stop sign like marks in the left hand column. these are errors. the errors are what you need to find.

You know from the info alerts I see the install was OK, have you tried launching front page?

let me know

Frontpage never finishes installing---it reaches the exe files I told you and then locks up at that point, it is definitely not installed...hmmms.
