Solved Auslogics Disk Defrag Question

Hi all! :D

I only recently upgraded to the current version of Auslogics Disk Defrag, where there is a new feature called "Defrag and Optimise". (for more read Auslogics - Frequently Asked Questions).

In this there is an option to "Move System Files to beginning of disk" (see Shot1).

Does anyone know exactly what this does [in a non-complex explanation]? (I know a bit about computers, but I'm not an "expert").

I really appreciate any help with this, and I'm curious to know does it actually "work" or is it just one of those "overrated features taht doesn't really do anything".

It pretty much does what the description says about it by moving your frequently accessed files to the front of the hard drive to make it even faster to access them instead of them being at random places on your hard drive.

Another new whistle added. At least I haven't noticed it in previous versions. Kind of like Windows Explorer file copy, after it gets about 20% into the job it tries to estimate the time to completion.

Unfortunately I didn't notice any speed/efficiency change when compared to a regular defrag scan. Perhaps it is not a a visible noticable change?

I wonder if it's more towards boot efficiency? You could try BootSpeed script for grins.

Well, I suppose it's one those things that vary per computer and with you have running.

btw one thing I just noticed. If you have a couple of restore points the defragger will likely leave them alone. I did Auslogics analyze and it showed 35% fragmented. I used both MyDefrag and Auslogics to defrag. Analyze showed 35% fragmented. Then I turned off restore points, enabled it again, and set the restore point max allocation(as per the tutorial on this site) and defragged. Then the analyze showed no fragmentation. Then I made a restore point.

Hey MilesAhead, that's great advice on fine-tuning, to create a nice, clean Restore Point. I like it!

And from your post, it would appear that your days of wrestling with Auslogics, are done and dusted:D
