0xc0000225 winload.exe

I've seen this problem posted elsewhere, but unfortunately my options are limited so I just ran the windows recovery to reformat my computer because of another similar problem that happened out of nowhere.

I'm running windows vista 64bit, or the version that comes with an ASUS G71G, but when I boot up I receive

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the casue. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer (to fix it...)

However since the computer does not come with a disc I can't use that.

Then it says

File: /windows/system32/winload.exe

Status:0xc0000225

Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt

Someone mentioned elsewhere to enable the IO IPIC or something like that, but I'm not sure how to do it on my type of ASUS. I have another computer I could use to help me fix it and a thumbdrive, I can also burn a DVD or CD if that helps, but hopefully it can be fixed on the computer.

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome

Well there are two conflicting things here. the error 0xc0000225 is an acpi bios setting set incorrectly, the winload.exe is either coppurpt or missing.

I suspect the error code to b e bogus and the winload is the problem. You are going to need to get a vista dvd. Try googling it you may be able to find a source. when you do doqnload and burn it to dvd.

Let us know when you get there and if you need help in doing this
