Ventrilo lag issues

Hello im running windows vista..
and yesterday i was getting a huge lag everytime that i was trying to talk in ventrilo ping was over 20000 when normally it is around 90
i could hear everyone just fine and the ping was normal until i started talking and people couldnt understand what i was saying
i checked my updates and the only thing that updated yesterday was windows defender.. i dont know if that is causing this problem
my internet is working fine i dont lag in other programs but ventrilo

What firewall (if any) are you using?
Is Ventrilo allowed through your firewall?
Are you using ANY P2P/filesharing applications at the same time (that includes apps that are idling in the background)?

It sounds like your upstream bandwidth is being filled, thus only causing issues when you talk.

I dont know how but it is fixed..
I was reading that this issue has happend with windows 7
but im still running windows vista
