I've been stuck with this problem for a few day/weeks but I apply a theme on Vista and yeah continue and it works fine but when I turn off the computer and turn it back on, the theme goes back to windows classic.

this first started when I used the style selector and it messed the whole thing up. Now every time I turn on my computer, i have to do the personalize>theme> etccc. It really getting to me and that I have this ugly classic theme. I also tried the VistaGlazz one and logged off then it still goes back to classic.

I was thinking of doing system restore. but I don't want to cause I just had one of those"windows update" thing.

Anyone have any suggestions ? I would appreciate them. :)

you could try running the system file checker (sfc.exe) to replace any missing or corrupt system files. (assuming you have a windows installation dvd). you could also look for a restore point just before you installed any third party theme utilities. then run windows update

I would follow kword's advice. If it stabalizes, then I'd try VistaGlazz if you can find one that goes with the SP level of Vista you are running. Last time I put VistaGlazz on I think it was at version 1.1. I've just kept running Vista Purple theme, so I haven't messed with it in months. The less radical themes seem to work without issues. The more system files you replace the more chances you take of getting a glitch.

edit: when I say less radical themes I mean like stuff from Deviant Art and other sites that don't go too deeply into replacing shell stuff.

Hey, there.

I've tried Vista Glazz myself and it was totally crap. It gave me all sorts of problems, and then even uninstalling didn't help. I actually had to use System Restore to make things right. This was because this piece of trash actually modifies deep hidden system files to make your computer install non-Microsoft themes. It's a real pain, so don't use it, please.
