Torrent stuck?

Hi. Now First of all what is a torrent. I dont know. secondly in the last few months iv had a torrent appear on my desktop and i have no idea where it came from. I cant delete it and it says it is not located on the desktop when it so it cant delete. Can someone help me please as i havent got a clue what it is or where it came from. also the name of it is

"[Torrentsworld.net] - Euro Truck Simulator mods.torrent"

Not sure this will help but it's worth a go; download and install the free version of Malwarebytes from the link below, then run a full scan to see what it comes up with, if it finds anything run several scans till they turn up clean; be sure to post back to keep us informed.

Basically, I havent been able to install malware bites as im not as admin and my parents dont like me installing things they dont know what it is. Iv tried to get rid of it but as iv said, i cant seem to find it in a search and i cant delete it due to the fact it says "this file is no longer located on the desktop". Does anyone know how to get rid of this thing I have no idea what it is.

Do You Mean Malwarebytes?

Have you explained that it helps PROTECT the Computer

If you would still Like to Uninstall Malwarebytes then Please go to Start>Control Panel (Classic View)>Programs and Features

Then Find Malwarebytes in the List and Right click then click Uninstall

A Torrent is a File that tells the Computer were to receive a file from the Internet

For Example if there is a Document on the Internet that I would Like but I do not know were it is or it is stored on a Private Server connected to the Internet then you can use a Torrent File to Find it and Download it

OP..... have you run windows defender? Its preloaded with vista, or try using housecall.trendmicro.com
It's a online virus and malware remover.

thanks, but are you aware of how i get rid of this torrent??? because iv downloaded some free file destroyers. but guess what. when i try to destroy the file, it says it is no longer located on the desktop and i cant find it anywhere els. I personally dont see how i will be able to get rid of this. does anyone els have any ideas?

What we are thinking is you picked up a virus and/or malware, which is why you can't get riid of it.

You can try booting into safemode, and delete it through the user profile path

Thanks for your help. two things. How do you boot into safe mode on a windows vista pc? iv only done it once many years ago and iv forgotton. and how do i delete it through the user profile path?

Safe mode is usually f8, and by user path i mean by using windows explorer zand going into

C:\Users\Your Name\Desktop

thanks, but iv tried this and i get the same message.

if no one has any ideas or suggestions then dont worry about it. I have had this problem for months and havent figured out how to get rid of it and wouldnt be supprised if no one els can help.

I have tried this. Still will not let me delete it. what i think has happened. is that its put an icon on my desktop but no file. i wish it would just let me delete it even if it is "apparently" not located on the desktop
