Bad Sony Vegas, Bad.

Hey Everyone and thank you very much for visiting my thread, hopefully you'll be able to solve my problem....

I Have an HP Pavillion Laptop with Windows Vista 32bit SP2 Home Premium
I've had it for two years now and it's wonderful.

Well except for two things....
1) I'm a film major and I use Windows version of Adobe Premier, which is Sony Vegas Pro 9. The program was working fine when I first got it, but recently it continuously becomes non-responsive. I make one or two moves, and the whole program just freezes...the "window message" pops up and I have to close down the program.
-Now I’ve tried programming my computer making SV (sony vegas) the highest priority when it's running, but so far it doesn't help.
- I also run Adobe After Effects on my computer and it works perfectly fine, but I only use that for motion graphics instead of the video editing

2) When ever I do run SV, my fan goes crazy and my computer heats up! I bought an external fan, but it does not seem to help. (And yes I know my CPU fan is working properly because you can practically hear it. And I clean it every month)

...and in all honesty, i really don't want to spend $$$ for a Mac.

Heyy!
Welcome to Vista Forums! ;):party::party:

I use Sony Vegas Pro 9 too, and iv'e never experienced anything like that...

When does the problem happen, like when your rendering the movie?

I'm just thinking here, when the program freezes, leave it for a while, 10 minutes maybe, when you try to close or stop the program from doing anything, it "confuses" the computer even more.

Hope this helps you,
And please remember to post back with what you have tried,
Daniel =)

Hey Daniel, thanks for the welcome and for helping me out :D

-The problem usually occurs when i'm nearly done editing...for example: i only need to add two more scene. Once i open up the program and add the clips i need onto the editing track the program just freezes and "the window message" pops up. It happens at an instant. Sometime i do get those moments where the frames are loading and i do have to wait...but nothing like this has happened to me before. It's just crazy.

- I have no problem rendering. The only slight mishap is that my computer heats up like crazy and i have to place an external fan underneath. Other then that, rendering is fine.

-What i've tried: re-installing, updating...everything, clean out the computer both virtual and physical, placing SV on high priority, using 4:3 instead of 16:9HD...

-my personal guess is that my computer doesn't have enough RAM to run the program? But that's just my own opinion. I could be wrong.

~thanks again for the help!!
