Vista problem again

Hi We use Uniblue Power Suite for all our 4 computers in our studio connected optical for Audio and a KVM switcher for the KVM
In the Vista Computer the RegistryBooster is asking if it shall ignore locked files or not
We chosed to ignore.
The question is then .Why is the question not coming up in either our W7 32 nor our W7 64.
We want to know if we maybe should unlock all files

Hi niceboyV,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

I recommend you uninstall and never again use Registry Booster or Optimizer, or Cleaner, or Fixer, or Enhancer, or Repairer, or whatever it might call itself on Vista or on Windows 7. These products generally do little if anything of real value and some (perhaps many) can cause serious problems to the registry and your system to the point where the only option is a re-installation. Vista and Windows 7 do perfectly fine on their own keeping the registry in order. We see way too many people here who have used these products and sometimes we can help and sometimes it requires a re-installation - and I don't want you to be one of those people.

Although I didn't specifically answer your question (because I don't know the answer but suspect that the least you change there the better - so ignoring was probably the right decision given that you used the product - perhaps there are no locked keys in Windows 7 (I just don't know)), I believe I have given you the advice that applies (in which case the question is not relevant as it won't come up once these very risky programs are uninstalled).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hello!

I also would very strongly recommend the removal of registry cleaners.

There are more details here, because this question was mirrored on SF: Solved Maybe a Vista Question but do they know ? - Windows 7 Forums

However, we will try to help you. What files or registry keys are locked. There are such things as locked registry keys - I first found out a lot about them in my malware removal degree. However, we need a few clues as to what??

Thanks!

Richard

I am testing Uniblue while waiting for Waves being upgraded to 64 bit then we are going to upgrade at least the W7 32 to 64 and the two Vista and the W7 64 might not be harmed. If its so we can continue doing music instead of manually fixing four computers

Today no locked files where found in Uniblue
because I chosed Ignore locked files
as I told you before,
then they will not pop up as locked in Uniblue ,
but I asked Uniblue support about that .
They said that it can be a configuration issue in Vista.
What I want to know is to do config.
but also find out which files that was ignored by me.
They do not show up as locked anymore in Uniblue then.
I can wait until next time one other locked file pops up
in Uniblue and there was the one description about that
but I want to know if there is a way now
to locate locked files in Reg-edit with my eyes and your help.
Thats what I asked Uniblue for tomorrow to be answered by them.
I was concerned that it might be something like a virus in the Register.
Is there a way to scan with Microsofts Security Essential only in the Register.
Is that a bad idea. When I try to find the filelocation for register by rightclicking ,
it does not show up the editor. I dont know what to say.
I of course can open it from the startmeny
but scanning register is maybe what full scan is doing.
Maybe this is not a virus either

Here you can see one disabeled account on the under user attachment file it says with a red X ADMINISTRATOR below local system accounts
Whats that ???

That is the root Administrator account. It is disabled in Windows by default, and for very good reasons. It is for the system. Don't try and enable it, as you may just end up causing far more harm than good. Anything to enable it is effectively hacking, and violating how Windows was meant to run, and I have seen this have some very nasty consequences.

As for locked files and registry keys, I know what they are, but it is very difficult to offer any help without knowing what they are. I know you don't know either, I am just explaining why I am apparently saying nothing.

Surely there must be some sort of log? It depends on the software I suppose.

I think as far as what Uniblue support told me. It can be a question of configuration in Vista , but they havnt answered yet about what to do if I want to go into Regedit and find out which files are locked.
It seems to be like in our own area. Some parts is kept secrete. Knowledge is power is one old expression we have here in Sweden. In America it seems to be more about free speach. I am going to ask the people on Gearslutz later.
There are some people who helped me a lot before in the XP-Regedit.
So I have already been into Reg-edit taking away things after our own wrongdoings in terms of Musicprograms.
I think though that it could be something easy not nessecerily spam or virus.
The virusprograms are also kind of secrete what they are doing inside our computers. We have to depend on testing by ourselves, if we are protected.
