Privatizing Folders

Hi forum,
Is there any FREE programme out there that would enable me to hide or close individual Folders/Files on my Laptop i.e. private matters, passwords,Financial records etc.
I am using Magic Folders at the moment which does the job but it is only a 30 day trial with a payment after that. It is likewise with others that I "googled".

Of course I could always transfer these files back and forward to a Memory Stick to achieve this. But, at the moment, I like to keep them on system and release them, when needed, with the password protected entry method. Any suggestions ?

Thanks, Richard, and a Happy New Year to you.

I don't think your suggestion (tutorial) is what I need as anyone on the computer could unhide files at will. I think I shall stick with my original idea, troublesome as it is, and just shift the private matters to a Memory Stick to insert into the laptop as and when I need them.

From reading you original post, I felt that you would say that.
I figured its both free and easy, so why not
Have a great New Year my friend.
