Java_tool_options

Hi,

I am using ISE design suite from xilinx and i have a problem with java, and the solution is to add "JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS = -Dfile.encoding=utf8" as an enviroment varible.

My problem is where exactly should i add it???

Hi devox,

The procedure to add environment variables in Vista is near the bottom of this article: Setting Environment Variables. Add it as a System Variable and not as a User variable so it will be available to all users and make sure you do this logged in as an Administrator.

Additional information is at: Windows Vista- Environment variables (though you may need to go to the link near the top for the version for XP for the basics). It also lists the registry location in Vista for the System Environment values where they can also be changed or added (but if you choose that method, first create a System Restore Point and backup the registry to be on the safe side).
