I am trying to put Office 2010 into a Dell Vostro that was just installed with Vista Ultimate. It is telling me that I need to install Vista SP1. What is the problem?
Thanks,
Tim

Let me add something that may be of consequence....
The computer I am working on is a new box 4 months old. It came loaded with Windows 7 on it but I need it to network with a bunch of other computers at work with Vista and XP. I just purchased and installed Vista Ultimate today on this machine. I didn't format the drive but laid in the installation over the top of 7. Should this affect the Office 2010 installation? I have downloaded the SP1, should I manually install this update or let the computer do an automatic update and installation?

Thanks in advance for all your help..

Tim

Hi. timbo68

As you have degrade the windows version it could create some issues like (richc46) discribe.
For installing the MS Office 2010 in vista you need to update it to Vista Sp1 otherwise it aint gonna work. You can update it from windows updates or download it manually from here. Download details: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (KB936330)

Click the bar icon if you find me helpful.
Hope your issue will fix :)

I would use the Standalone Installer for SP1 and SP2

Also I would Format the Drive or at least make the whole Drive and then Install Vista Again

You will need to Backup your files before doing this
