problem with this Windows Installer package

    Vista Home Premium 32, SP2. MSIE 9

    1. When trying to install an application Estonain ID card management, which is meant to be run with Vista, there is following error:
There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

    2. I guess it might be a missing installer, but when trying to run from MS downloads.
    Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu
First searching for updates which obviously can't be found because the package to be installed is latest, there is an error: Windows Update Standalone Installer - The update does not apply to your system.

Any ideas why application fails to to install? How to interpret error message?
    Why installer installation fails?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

What is the source of this installer package?

How did you come to the conclusion the KB942288 package was your answer?

Does the supplying company have an update or an IT service support department?

Fixed ... it's something to do with Symantec Norton Antivirus or at least the solution was found at - MSI "Run as administrator" Context Menu for Vista | Symantec Connect Community

Google search for: MSI "Run as administrator" Context Menu for Vista

The problem was that *.msi installation failed to run as administrator and there weren't such Explorer context menu prior to running Symantec fix.
