mmmmm....
tried that above thx but no joy..after downloading it..it said No installation is necessary as newer or equivalent verison already on pc...

can i uninstall it then re-install it ?
if yes to the above can you please tell me what to look for and where ?

Hello, just saw this , I see Rich is assisting you, but, I will toss in a suggestion . You can uninstall using the Windows program in Programs and Features of your Control Panel. or you can get Revo Uninstaller and use that . Once you have uninstalled it, what I like to do is reboot and then go at an issue again. You can get revo uninstaller free here : Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems Just use Free version, it works just as well for home users as the Paid for version. Once you have removed the version of Direct x you have installed now. reboot and then use Rich's link to get latest version . Maybe a reinstall will fix you up .
