I have vista home premium. I was checking with my internet service provider on the anti virus program. They were trying to add this program and infromed me I do not have the add and remove programs and in order for them to install their program I would have to get this reinstalled.
I have a Acer Aspire 5920 laptop, bought at Walmart, I do not have a cd to reistall programs and no longer have support from Acer or Microsoft.
Can anyone tell how to get add & remove programs back on my system.

Thanks TP

Welcome
Never heard of this.
Go to control panel>programs and features. You now see a list of programs you can uninstall.
Does not work. Download Revo; a super way to uninstall
Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs easily, Forced Uninstall
Does not work. What are you trying to uninstall?
If it is an anti virus, put the name of the anti virus and uninstall tool in Google search
and use that.

I think the problem is that I am looking for a program called add & remove programs in the controll panel and there is nothing there that is called that. I believe there is a program by that name in Window XP.
Anyway a person with my service provider was trying to uninstall thier anti virus program and reinstall install it, he told me I do not have add & remove programs and I would have to have it reinstalled on my system before he could help me. I believe he was trying to reinstall it and it would not install for some reason. Maybe that he does not know what he's talking about. I am no computer wis so he could tell me anything and I would probably believe it. I do see how to uninstall programs as you pointed out. I thank you for that.

I will try to install the Microsoft Security Essentials. Is there any programs in Vista for adding programs. I do not see anything in the control panel for add programs. Sorry for all the questions. I do appreciate all the help.

Thanks TP

Terry,
We are all members of the same great forum. Some people are very knowledgable while others are not and need additional help. If you have questions and concerns, feel free to ask, since that is why we are here.
This is what you do
Uninstall the current anti virus. Then
go only to the site that below, since you have no anti virus protection.
You will see free download
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
just click on that. Now wait while it downloads, thats it.
Vista has a great feature, its called System Restore. It allows you to go back to when things were good, if you make mistakes.
You may want to make a system restore point before doing anything. This way we can fix anything that goes wrong.
