Solved MPEG TS Video file from Cannon Cam to iPhone video?

Hi, I have videos from my cannon HD cam in MPEG TS format, and I am not able to put them in itunes, plus they are way too large. I tried online conversion sites, but they said they don't support that file format. In movie maker it comes out all fuzzy and cloudy and you can't see it. Does anyone know how I can 1) reduce the file size, 2) convert it to an iphone friendly format? every program that I found online SAYS it can do it, but costs $30 or more. Help please!

OK I'm downloading the program. I didn't see the MPEG TS format in the supported file types though. What format does it need to be to run on my computer and go into itunes?

Good Morning @wither 3 and @mcforyou. Someones up early? ;)

Just hold on, I'll find you a free alternative.

Just to make sure, you wanted to convert it to an iPhone friendly format? Which is what? I have an iPhone but I never take videos off of it, so I wouldn't know.

I'm not sure, but the first program seems to be working, I have one file half converted already. It was easy, I just selected the file, then selected the type to convert it to, and then selected the size I wanted it. If it works just like it appears it's going to, this will be perfect. I'll post up and let you know the details as soon as I figure it out. Thanks so much guys!

Well that program worked perfectly! Thank you! The only thing was that it put a bunch of free game icons on my desktop, but I think I got rid of them. Thanks!

I did! I UNCHECKED every box that offered to install free stuff, and even though I unchecked every box that was there, like 6 of them on different screens, I still got that stuff.

I'm glad the converter worked for you. I believe the iPhone uses mpeg-4 (the Apple format of mpeg-4 is MP4)with h.264 compression but didn't look.

There's an excellent search tool here:
Video tools/software and downloads - VideoHelp.com

You scroll the list of video or audio input to output format combinations and it displays a list of tools. Some are paid software but many are free.

Some are nearly foolproof, like MkvToMP4. But some you need to know what specs are "standard" for your player and make sure that even though you have the right preset, that the bit rates for video/audio are correct. Depends on the conversion.

Correction, the videos that I converted worked, but there is no sound. I haven't figured out how to fix that yet.

Instead of selecting a different output profile than .avi, try using the .avi.

It's possible that the iPhone will accept a .avi but I'm not sure. I just wanted you to give it a try to see if that gets you both video and audio.
