Hello Billy,

"Search Protection" looks like one of those extra options not paid attention to that get installed while installing another program. I'd recommend to uninstall this garbage.

Search Protection by Spigot - Should I Remove It?

The Spigot Search Settings is an application which is part of the Spigot Toolbar. Spigot searchsettings.exe'spurpose is to check periodically your default search engine and restore it to Yahoo in case you agreed to set it to Yahoo in the first place and another application is trying to change it. It's easy to uninstall Spigot Inc Seach Settings at any time. Since the application is part of the toolbar, you must uninstall the Spigot toolbar and that will remove all tracks of searchsettings.exe spigot. Removing a Spigot toolbar from the control panel is easy - Just follow the steps below. Neither the Toolbar nor search settings Spigot Inc are not Spigot Malware, they are simple programs that can be removed easily from your machine. The toolbar communicates with our servers from time to time to check for available software updates such as bug fixes, patches, enhanced functions and new versions. By installing the toolbar, you agree to automatically request and receive updates. When there is a material change to the reference notices or the toolbar software, we will notify you though a pop-up in your web browser. At that point you will be given the chance to accept the new changes and update the toolbar or decline the new changes and do not update the toolbar. Uninstall instructions are also presented at this point. If you wish to turn off automatic updates, you can do so from the "Options" menu in the toolbar.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn
