And you've had no problems in removal of needed files etc.?

Do you save a Backup etc. before deleting?

I have never used any registry cleaner up to now but with your encouragement above I used this ccleaner and it made an increase in speed. Thanks a lot.

You're welcome Brummyfan. Just be sure to double check the scan results to make sure that they look safe to be removed.

Yes Brink, I was careful when I used this registry cleaner as you and many others warn about these cleaners. My system works very well now and no problems. Thanks again.

Re: Latest CCleaner version released

I don't understand a lot of things this program does but for a starter, If I choose to "fix unused file extensions" what does this do? I see file extensions there that I use all the time. For instance .CR2 It's a Canon extension for their RAW images. It's telling me this is an "unused extension" How about this example? Is it safe to run cleaner if you're not quite sure about everything it's fixing? Even if you create a .reg file it seems dangerous unless you know the registry pretty well.

Unused files extensions. That's one of those I do not clean out, based on bad experience. I clean out everything but this one and MUI cache. I make sure the other ones are OK to clean out first. What's MUI cache?

Re: Latest CCleaner version released

I don't know what MUI cache is. I'm sure we could find out but. I wonder about a lot of that stuff. Missing shared .dlls active x and class issues among others. It would be cool if someone could post a safe list and general ideas of what not to mess with on this program. I have spent the day on Google trying to find out one by one. I am not a beginner by any means but not an expert. I would like to learn about all the stuff this program "fixes".
