Re: need help with audio

Alright, I'm going to try to describe how to get there for you.

Open Control Panel (maybe in classic mode? I don't know), in there should be a Blue Icon with Yellow Note that is the Realtek Audio Manager (if not there, get the brown speaker in lower right task bar; white speaker is windows, brown is Realtek). When that opens, you have a bunch of tabs at the top. Open the "Microphone" one (between auxillary and digital receiver). There will be two sliders. Top one says Microphone Boost/Volume. Bottom one is "Feedback". Move this, and get rid of little red "x". That should let you play that back.

The key is to get to the Audio Manager. The other stuff, at this point, is only secondary to the issue. The muting issue is within that.

Hopefully that is right. I'm getting my information over the phone from my brother who has a Realtek. Give that a go. If that doesn't work, update the driver for that. There's a chance it will install that program with the updates.

Ok, I found the Realtek Audio manager. There is only one slider thats for the volume under front mic and microphone, I tried both. There are two tabs for microphone boost and mute. The mute isn't checked and I have mic boost turned up all of the way. And Toshiba already had me update the drivers a few times now.

Re: need help with audio

Is there a sound mixer window for output? It's possible they've got the mic turned down in there.

Bad news is that I'm going to run out of usefulness here pretty soon, since I don't have the same card. I could rip out my XtremeAudio and go back to my Realtek, but that doesn't sound fun, so I probably won't (no offense). You may want to PM Brink and see if he can help. Direct him towards all of this so he can see what we've been through. I think he has a Realtek, and he's really good at this kind of stuff.

Re: need help with audio

Also, under the sounds category there are three tabs that I will list for you.
Under the first tab labeled "playback" there is "Realtek HDMI output" "Speakers" and "Realtek Digital output".
Under the second tab labeled "Recording" there are also three tabs "Frontmic" "Microphone" "Frontlinein" and "Stereo Mix".
Under the third tab labeled "Sounds" there are options for "Control Scheme" and "Program".

make sure ur playback is on ur speakers
and microphone..technically ur guitar...try the frontlinein or frontmic...

need to know how everythings connected though..
try showing us an image of ur sound properties

I'm just running a 1/8 into the mic port. I also tried plugging my iPod directly into my pc through the mic and I get the same thing, nothing. However I can record the sounds of my guitar or my iPod and play them back.
