USB sound card and mic stopped working...

This is a Vista issue because the unit works fine on an XP machine.

Vista seem to recognize it and install the drivers when it's plugged in, including the message that the device has installed successfully.

The only thing I can think of is that the drivers are bad. I've remove the device from device manager and nothing seems to help.

Any ideas?

Does it have custom drivers? You should use the ones that the manufacturer made, as they know what they are trying to achieve, where Microsoft makes general drivers for every possible soundcard :P

It's an Andrea USB Adapter external sound card.

It's a pretty wierd situation. Turns out the problem is caused by one app, Dragon Naturally Speaking. Weirder still is that there is only one area of the software in which it doesn't work. DNS calls it the Audio Setup Wizard where you dictate and it sents volume levels.

The problem I was having was caused by the fact that you have to run that wizard to set up a user.
