Microphone don't working AD1988B/SupremeFx

Hello, sorry for my English ... I'm italian.

This is my first post and I've a problem with my on-board SoundMax 1988B (SupremeFxII) in bundle with MB Asus P5E.
In Vista64 Ultimate all SoundMax's drivers found (also ASUS_BlackHawk_v30) don't working (error code 10) instead Microsoft's drivers WORKING BUT the microphone don't working

In XP-32bit microphone working ONLY the first time after a clean installation of drivers and software SoundMax, launch Skype and the MIC don't working definitively

Microphone is setting correctly like RECORDING DEVICES but it's "death".

Any ideas?

Thank you

Hmm...that makes it sound like it might be plugged into the wrong port. I'm not overly familiar with the SoundMax, unfortunately, so I won't be able to provide much specific help. Try the other input spots, though. Might be as simple as incorrectly labeled or something.

Is this microphone USB or mini?

Well, since it's a mini, that means it's definitely using that sound card. Unfortunately, like I said, I'm not really able to provide too much help and am just guessing at this point.

By chance is there an on-off switch on the microphone that may have accidentally been switched off?

Re: Microphone don't working AD1988B/SupremeFx

Well, I went through a lot of trouble to solve a problem I had when trying to record some old LP's with my P5N32-E SLI Plus and it's SupremeFX (AD1988b) onboard sound, so I thought I'd post it here for anyone trying to do the same...

I had no sound at all from the line in port, no matter what I did. I'll skip the dozens of things I tried, what worked in the end was installing the latest SoundMax driver from the ASUS site. Finally I got a signal!

However, no audio playback so even though I was recording, I couldn't hear a thing.

So I rolled back the driver to Microsoft's generic one for 64-bit. Now I could hear, but the line-in was dead again!

So basically I have to switch drivers to record, and back again to listen. A little tedious but it gets the job done. Good thing I don't need to do this very often!

Hope this helps someone...

Dan
