Hello
First off, I apologize if this isn't considered to be in the correct forum or not. I wasn't too sure, because I'm not exactly sure what the problem is.My internal microphone currently is not working. I receive sound perfectly fine from everything, but my internal microphone will not record it. I have spoken into it, created loud noises, and have done whatever else I can, and it still does not pick anything up. My settings are enabled, yes. I've been to onto the HP site and have gone through step-by-step instructions over various solutions that could fix this, but none of it seemed to have worked. I've tried a numerous amount of times to use the sound recorder and play it back, and when I do the sound does not show up. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, how did they fix it? Or does anyone know maybe what it could be and any other possible solutions available? Some information that might possibly be able to help (I'm not sure if it will or not, but it can't hurt.): I have: a Compaq Presario F730US Notebook PC Vista Home Premium the product number is: GR967UA#ABA and the serial number is: CNF7480N4C the sound device I have is: Conexant High Definition Audio |

Hello Dotaquote, Check both the Speaker volume Microphone settings and the Microphone settings themself as there are a few settings found in each one that affect recording...Have you also contacted Compaq directly about this as they are more equipped to handle support requests for there hardware? They also provide a 24h live chat support service. dmex |

Yes, I did contact them and I was directed towards a support page that had possible solutions and step-by-step instructions on how to solve it. However, I had been to that page beforehand and did exactly everything it said more than once, several times, and still it did not help. I told the person that I was talking to that I had already been there, and their response was "Well, I suggest you try it again." So, that was absolutely no help!
I did, however, get an external microphone yesterday and I've tried it out and it works perfectly fine. So, at least I have that now. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to this topic, dmex. I appreciate it greatly! |

Sounds like they are not doing there job...I would tell them that page doesnt have all the answeres and ask them for direct assistance.
If they try say goto that page ask to speak with a manager and explain you have been to the page many times and you would like to know why they will not help you directly. Steven |

There may be a setting in the audio settings that allows you to boost the mic. Go into control panel, audio settings. I had this problem on XP so I dont know if it is relevant here but you never know.
