Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs

Hi Moon, It's not a dumb question. I personally don't use Realmedia player so haven't had any .rm/.Ram extensions so I can't tell you if it would work or not. Perhaps someone else who knows could.

But here's a link to the VCP developers page, you may find an answer there.

Vista Codec Package Homepage (VCP)

Good luck

To determine if your running 32 or 64 hit WIN+Pause/Break and you'll find some simple info.

Hi Moonlusti,

You can play Realmedia files if you install the seperate VCP RM package

Thanks both of you for your replies - I want to try and keep to one player rather than taking up space on my laptop with many packages that I rarely use

Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs

Hi Folks

I have used this Vista Codec Pack for 1 year now and it is the Best full codec pack for Vista 32 & 64bit that I've ever found! In fact, if I remember correctly, I think I mentioned this VCP pack some months ago to John and a few others here who had never heard of it, and recommended it to them. Glad to see they've checked it out...

Some info for others -

**To make Vista 64bit use the 32bit Media Player by default: Make sure you have the 64bit VCP Tools pack that Dmex has linked too at the start, then click Start - All Programs - VistaCodecs - 64bit Tools - Default Media Player & click the "Set 32bit Media Player as Default" icon. This MUST be done twice, don't ask why. This is required if you want to play FLAC files in Vista 64bit.

For moonlustie - The RealMedia (RM) package for VCP doesn't add the full RealMedia Player, it's a plugin but it is required if you want to play RealMedia files in WMP.

The latest Media Player Classic builds can be found here: http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

This project is based on the original "Media Player Classic" and was created after Gabest, the original author, stopped working on it. Several new features have been integrated in this player, such as :
  • An option to remove Tearing
  • Translation in several languages (currently Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Polish, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian)
  • Additional video decoders and in particular H.264 and VC-1 with DXVA support (see specific section for details)
  • Better support for Windows Vista, including a release for 64 bits platform
  • Support for EVR renderer
  • Bugs and vulnerability fixes

Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs

I just installed this codec package on Vista X64 and it play everything I throw at it very smoothly and way better than klite. One thing I'm trying to figure out is how to change the brightness and contrast for certain video files such as avi, mpeg1-2-4, divx...ect. In klite, I could check the overlay filter and change the brightness for a file that is playing but in VCP when I right click on a video all I see is Filters>MPC Video Decoder. I try setting the "video decoder configuration" but nothing changes. Please help me out!

Hi there......
I installed and it is almost perfect.
The CPU is not having a high usage any more, but the subtitles wont work!
They are in the same folder as the MKV movies but does not work.
They worked perfect with the K-light =/

I marked "subtitle" in the ffdshow but did not work yet.

Thanks.

I am trying to use the encoder from microsoft for some .asf files so I can make a small music vid. But it says I am missing an audio codec with a code following. The code is
