| Member | Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs I have Vista Ultimate x64 (x1) and Vista Home Premium (x2) PCs. I understand that i have to install the x32 codec pack and the x64 codec pack, no worries there. But are there 2 different versions of WMC on each PC (a x32 and a x64)? Are they both found in All Applications? I will use x64 ver almost all of the time probably, but just curious. Last thing, will WMC play a DVD rip of VOB files in a folder, do I need to install something extra? Thanks |

| Member | Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs OK. I have a Vista 64 bit Home Premium. If I download both the 32 bit and the 64 bit, can you assure me that my audio will not get messd up? I had trouble with it when I first got my computer and now it works well. I just don't want to get in trouble again. If this will allow me to use both 32 bit and 64 bit, I will probably download it---I just don't want to lose my sound again. Do you think I should? |

| Member | Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs Hi Jeet, Vista x64 uses the 32bit Media Player by default so everyone needs the 32bit version regardless, If you want to use the 64bit Media Player just install both 32bit and 64bit packages then you can use the start-menu links to switch the default Media Player from 32bit to 64bit ![]() Steven |

| Member | Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs Hi All: Thanks for posting. I think this is what I am looking for to resolve my: "com surrogate has stopped working" and "Windows media player has stopped working" problems. Do you think? Can anyone tell me how to find and uninstall any older codecs as per the instructions given by the Vista Codec Pack? Tks Jaff |

| Newbie | Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs I had to change out from my XP PC due to a fault that couldn't be repaired. But I was able to recover my hard drive and have it as an external one now with just the My Documents, where I had an unfinished Movie Maker project. My new system is Vista 64-bit. I can't import my unfinished XP Movie Maker project to Movie Maker on my new PC due to some codec problem. Will this codec pack overcome that issue? |

| Member | Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs I've had some good results with ffdshow x64 (standalone) If you're interested, you can obtain the files from Digital Digest at this link: ffdshow -> History | Software - Digital Digest Note: scroll down to find x64 version. I use this mainly to play XviD within Windows Media Center. It would also be beneficial if you run the x64 version of WMP. I would post the instructions, but don't know if they've been already stated. |

| Newbie | Re: Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs I tried the downloads - but to no avail - my error message was actually that the audo codec "ACELP.net(130)" was missing - finally found the answer on another forum - so am sharing that here You can find it here: http://www.free-codecs.com/Acelp_net_Codec_download.htm Worked like a charm. I am now too tired and frustrated to watch the tutorial videos I was interested in 3 hours ago. |
