Vista - no sound after sp1

Hi, I am sure this is a repetitive question, but I am in desperate need of help.

I installed the service pack 1 and I don't have sound now. I have tried reinstalling my drivers, and all that other mumbo-jumbo from the microsoft page, but I still don't have sound.

I have vista home premium, running on an Acer aspire t180. Does anyone know what I can do, or where I can go to solve this problem? According to my computer, my speakers are working....there is just NO SOUND!!!

I kinda want to pull my hair out now.....

Have you tried backing off SP1?

Sure sounds (sorry) like a sound driver problem.

I'd check back at the Acer site often for any updates. I'd also try going to a restore point prior to SP1 and backing off any audio/sound driver updates since SP1.

Try a simple uninstalling and then reinstalling your sound card drivers. Get the latest driver from Acer.

I ended up uninstalling the service pack update...and my sound was there. So.....I don't know what to do, never update again? That can't be good.

No, as I said install Sp1, uninstall your sound drivers and then install them again.

i can't find the cds that came wit my computer. i have a M2N-E SLI ASUS motherboard running Vista Home Premium 32bit. i went to ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- but when i press the ASUS navigation wizard button it doesn't auto detect

Then manually find your drivers - don't ever use the drivers off the CD as you never know how old those are.

i'm above average about most things when it comes to computers but where do i find out wha series it is
