first of all I'll give you the specs...

Windows Vista home premium 6.0 build 6001

Intel core 2 quad cpu Q6600

Realtek high definition audio version 6.00.0001.5485 date 9/19/2007

Speakers set to Stereo (I have 2 speakers and a subwoofer)

I've had the system for about 3 months and my sound has worked perfectly, bass and everything but all of a sudden it stopped, i've checked and double checked to make sure everything is plugged in properly... i've check the audio levels and it seems everything is fine but still no bass, I even checked to see if my subwoofer was smashed in by my parents when I was out, they are always bitching about how loud it is... so I'm pretty sure my sound was sabotaged

any ideas would help, and if you need more info just leme know i'd be glad to supply it.

Try a pair of headphones to see if the sound is normal (with bass).
Look for cracks in the wires.
Do a sound check using the inbuilt software.
Try connecting the speakers to another system to check them.

What speaker system are you using.

I'm using an altec lansing setup, it consists of 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer... it puts out really good sound imo and I can really blast it...if that's not enough info and you want the exact model where do you think I can get this info? also im starting to think it's possible my subwoofer just died? i've had it for 2 years and have played it really really loud off and on but it seems strange that it just dies.

hmm, I just plugged in my headset and yes it sounds perfectly normal, bass and everything... I'm just remembering the last few things I did before my bass stopped working and I don't see how it would cause it to stop working? I played some music at night like I always do and then the next morning it stopped working, but previously to me finding out my bass doesn't work I installed a program for ventrillo that alters your voice... just for fun meh I uninstalled it anyway but yah that's all I did.

I doubt your bass would just die, normally you get a thing called flutter before the speaker dies. (unless you went totally mad with the volume and blew the speaker).

How many jacks go into the pc? Is it possible to try the speakers on a different device? Headphone jack on a sterio for example.

As a last resort try reinstalling the software.

thank's in advance for your quick help and tips, i'm off to bed now but the war against my bass isn't over... ill be on to give you some updates on my failures haha

As a *first* resort check the speakers in another device to see if the bass works in the speakers first. You may be right the sub may be out - voice coils can go at any time, and sometimes you can tell and sometimes you won't be able to....
