Vista - built-in mic not working

need help please, my HP Pavilion dv6324 built-in mic not working though device driver is upto date, i even rolled it back to the previous one. further, it doesn't have any sign of being disabled nor any mark in the device manager. when i use an external mic or headset, it's working fine. what could be the problem? what should i do?

by the way, it's Conexant HD audio, driver version 4.33.1.61, dated 05/01/08, i need help to make it work please........

Two things

Firstly the database that Microsoft uses for the update device driver option in the device manager is not always as up-to-date as it could be and may state that your driver the latest available when the manufacturer may have newer versions available on their site. The manufacturers site is the place to check for updated drivers if you want to be sure

What you may want to do with your inbuilt microphone is right click on the speaker icon in the tray and select recording devices, checking the properties from here may show something as simple as the microphone is not enables or the recording level is set to zero! I have seen both.

hopefully it's as simple as that, if not check the manufacturers site for updates and also they often run their own forums and because they are hardware specific can provide solutions more quickly
