Hi.. well yeah im another one of the victims that has no sound with vista... :( and belive me i spent almost 5 hours trying to fix it, i tried allmost everything that i could found on the internet. nothing workt. :(
but the thing is that i have all the drivers software on a cd that i got with the computer, but when i put the cd in.. it says "Error code : 2 (2H) the system cannot find the file specified".
so my question is. what am i to do? how can i start the cd.
please help

Hello Macolas, and welcome to the forums,

Need a bit more info to enable anyone to help can you post your system specs,

also the error you are posting could be related to a smudged/scratched CD.

what I would also suggest is that you check your system manufacturers website for the latest sound drivers (especially for x64), the driver situation is still very fluid and you will quite often find that the disks supplied are out of date before the system is even shipped :(

Kudos to you. I was in the same boat. I downloaded Driver Genius, Driver Detective, but they all wanted me to buy it. I'm from Canada and I'm not exactly keen on doling out money, because by the time it gets here there are so many taxes on it. I'm on food stamps for a month.

Anyways I downloaded A trial version of RadarSync. It's rated the last of those three I just mentioned. I did a scan and it found the update for my sound driver, along with a few others, I clicked on install and it installed it for me.
:D

My Computer

I didn't know where to post because this topic is polyposted everywhere. Like Macolas, i've been searching the web and trying all day to fix the audio on my pc bought today.
Thing is: At the shop this afternoon my pc was hooked up with HDMI, and everything seemed to work fine. At home however i got no sound from my headphones, speakers (connected with headphone plug) plugged in the front or Dell stereo speaker system with the single green plug connected on the back.
But i can't really find a manufacturer for the onboard sound card. I read something about headphone possibilities appearing after driver software updates. Another complicati:cry:n: I have no internet either since there doesn't seem to be a x64 firmware for my siemens gigaset usb adapter 108. S
Sorry to bore yall with the same lame question again. Hope someone can find the time to help me out. Sebastian
Motherboard= Abit AN78gs, Antec 300 casing.

My Computer

hello thelordofthethings, welcome to the forums

just reading about the HDMI setup in the shop,

right click on the sound icon in the tray and select output devices

in the dialogue that appears if you have two options, Speakers and digital, check that the speakers (or at least not the digital), is set as default, It may be if they were set up for hdmi then the digital output is selected and that would not work with the normal ports.

I think it's a realtek sound chip on this board but can't find any definitive info

You're right, it was a realtek driver, i called to the shop the next day and he told me he'd only installed the hd exit driver. So i just had to insert the disc that came with the motherboard(DUHhhh) Anyways tnx for reply.
