Vista - Problems with .MP3

Good Evening People,
Well I started a small downloading spree when i got the machine built up and running, and this has me bamboozled . I Use Windows Vista X64 Ultimate edition. After downloading many different albums and such I ran into a problem. Some of them play but most of them don't. I use Windows Media Player for the audio and whenever trying to open up and music through there (or any music player rather) I run into problems.
1: It will have an error pop up first saying that "the file that you are trying to play has an extension (.mp3) that does not match the file format. then it asks if you wish to continue.
2: After clicking Yes, It just says that windows cannot support the file error screen.

I went to the topic at Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs downloaded the 2 different codecs, but still no music.

Any ideas my Gurus?

Do I have everyone stumped on this one?

maybe a file association error or a corrupt installation, what is up with using WMP? if you go to default programs>file associations in control panel and set .mp3 to play by xyz media player, it should play in that player.

Thanks Mr. Needs, when I get home ill see what is wrong with it. It is using WMP, but I have found that no matter what music player I use they all seem to have the same problem. The one that was listed above that I downloaded wouldnt even do anything with the files it would just skip. Its wierd that it happens with some files that I download and not others.

it may be an issue with connecting to the internet to retrieve song information, have you tried disabling this in wmp?

It looks like they must all be corrupt .mp3 files. I dont know why i got so many that were bogus, they were all high ranking torrent files. Thanks anyways for the help bro.
