SoundMAX Audio driver M2N32 SLI Deluxe Vista Ultimate 64 bit

Have had my PC BSOD on me so many times it's not even funny these last few days... Every time i install the Asus SoundMAX driver, or any of the 3 (yes THREE! ) beta drivers for this on-board audio-driver. Uninstalled the driver and Vista seems to pick it up, installing HDA drivers, but haven't tested it in that config yet (i'm tired...) Front headphone is working, that's all i know...it wasn't with the Asus drivers...

Anyone else had problems with this, and how did you sort it?

Sorry if this is a stupid question and "Vista, 'of course', provides it's own drivers for this... DriverDetective keeps telling me the drivers are out of date...

can i use M2N32 Vista-edition drivers for this board, even though they weren't made for it?

I dont know if this is true with vista but it is with XP. Whenever I built a new system I would have to uninstall the audio driver that was auto installed and then install the drivers you need. Also there might be an HD audio driver that was auto installed that needs to go.

Just a thought

Thanks for your reply Jeremy, I'm about to install XP 32 bit on a new harddrive today, as this has been driving me nuts. I noticed that it installed Windows own HDA drivers, and uninstalled them before trying to install the ones i found on ASUS's website. Every. Single. Time. I. Get. A. Bloody. BSOD... :-s Doesn't matter which of them I try either... All four drivers provided by ASUS are about as useful as - well, imagine something _very_ un-useful hehe ;-)

And just to make matters worse, installing iTunes works, but it won't "pick up" my music folder, Lightroom (i do a lot of photography), works a treat, until you actually try to _do_ something - then it crashes.
IE works until i try to enter gmail, or any other website i regularly use, then that crashes too.
Oh, and sidebar crashes before i've even started - disabled that though, to avoid the silly error-messages.
That also goes for Windows Media Player, though that has also stopped now (i think they may have been related).
Adobe Acrobat reader wouldn't install (some NOSSO(R) process not wanting to start), but i fixed that by installing version 8...

To say it is annoying would be a good candidate for Understatement of the Year 2009 - favourite to win so far in fact c",)

But again, thank you for your help, if you have any further input i'd love to hear it, as i'm rather stubborn, and i'd love for it to work. I've paid good money for this system, and i'd like to get the features it says it has to actually work!
