Sound Help

I have a problem (obviously). My laptop will not play sound. When I hover my cursor over the sound icon in the lower-left corner of the screen, a message pops up stating that 'No Audio Output Device is installed'. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Go to control panel, device manager, sound, video and game controllers, double click, is there a sound driver. I would assume that there is onboard sound even though you have not listed any of your laptops specs.

If there is a device, try downloading the latest driver for it from the device manufacturer and you should now have sound.

Good Luck !

Thanks for the assist. I found the place you're talking about, but when I tried to update the driver, it said I had the latest version. Is there anything else I might try? I'm sorry if I seem to lack initiative, but I have no experience with things like this.

What type of equipment are you using ? ie.. laptop brand, model # and what sound device is in it?

Um...well, my laptop's from Toshiba. When I look at the driver, it says that it's a Realtek High Definition Audio. Where would I find the model #?
