DVD to MP3

Does anyone know how I can convert songs from a DVD to MP3 format so I can add them to my playlists and put them on my iPod for listening? Any way of doing this?
Thanks!

you need to first convert the dvd to a smaller file, dvd is too big to convert to audio. Use a dvd ripper for that, and then simply add the resulting file to windows movie maker to convert the audio only to WMA, then convert the WMA file to MP3 through audacity.

Re: DVD to MP3

Mr. Needs,

You have give me the closest answer I can get to, so bear with me. I have Windows Media Player which has "rip" on the menu and Real Player which does not. When I open WMP, and insert my DVD movie (Eagles), and click on Audio, it lists the songs and then I click on "rip" but then it asks me to insert CD into CD drive. I inserted the DVD anyway and clicked rip again. I am hearing the song, but not sure if it's doing a darn thing. I am hoping you can tell me if WMP is suitable for this? Am I doing this right? Thanks!

no, unfortunately you need a different program to rip dvds, a dvd decoder is needed, something like ahead dvd ripper or magic dvd ripper. after the film is "ripped" then take it from there.

Re: DVD to MP3

Was having problems d/ling with Firefox. I got Magic. Anyway, what profile? AVI? iPod? (I have iPod shuffle). WMV?

Split Mode: Infinite? By Chapter? Then there's differnent minutes listed?

I'm just going to go ahead with AVI and infinite since it's defaulted for those, but I only have four more uses before I have to pay. TXS

Re: DVD to MP3

Mr. Needs,

I was able to get my DVD ripped, and my AVI file is in Window Movie Maker. I downloaded Audacity and tried, but no go. Can you please give me instructions on how to get my AVI file into that Audacity program so I can have the Mp3 songs? We're getting closer! I appreciate your help so much. Thanks. Any pics would help too.

Re: DVD to MP3

I don't know is it illegal or not, but Agree Free DVD Audio Ripper is the software you need.

Cheers...
