| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Problem with sound -Need help- Hey everyone, I just recently formatted and reinstalled Vista because i changed my motherbored and Processor so i felt like a new start. After waiting for all the Windows updates to finish i turned on some music and my Sound was messed up, i have sound it just dosn't seem to work right. On some ill be able to hear everything but the singer and on others and hear only the singer. This also effects games, i turn on my scarface seeing it was closest game near me and installed it, on that i can't hear Scarfaces voice, or the cars around me but i can hear other people speak. Does anyone know whats wrong with my sound? I use the soundcard that is built onto my motherbored because i have never had need of a Sound card in the past. my new motherbored is an MSI motherbored and my processor is Intel core 2 duo System Model: MS-7383 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz, 2336 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s) |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: Problem with sound -Need help- Sound & Video drivers is something I don't let Windows Update install, I usually do those manually because of problems like the one you are describing. If you go to one of the Stickied posts you'll see a thread on the Latest sound drivers for Realtek, I am assuming those are the ones you are using since they usually come with onboard sound, if not... find the mfg of your sound card and download their latest drivers for the OS you are using, download it to a folder you can later find. Go to Device Manager/Sound/Driver and uninstall the drivers you have at this moment, reboot if asked. After you are back at the desktop, find the file you just downloaded and run it, remember to do so as "Run as Administrator"... righ clicking on the file should give you this option. Once you are done, reboot for good measure, once at the desktop, unplug the sound cable(s) and plug them back in one by one and look for the Realtek Audio Manager to appear telling you that you just plugged a cable, making sure you answer the questions correctly. This may help |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: Problem with sound -Need help- You are trying to download from a secure FTP, just choose download from Site 1, 2 or 3 and NOT from Express. You are going to have to patient as those 3 site are very "s l o w" |

I also don't really like useing things like that (driver detective) something about it dosn't look trustworthy, and i have really no need for it because am only haveing problems with my sound, thanks anyway though. Am gona check the MSI site which i proberbly should have done at the start, but as it being a sound problem it didn't really occur to me to even check it. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Problem with sound -Need help- Okey so i searched for my motherboard and came across some Drivers for "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver" and downloaded them, when it was completed i retarded the PC, unplugged my speakers and plugged them back in and that Realtek HD Audio manager came up, i tested some music, and no change the sound is still strange and distorted in a way. If the actual drivers don't work, how am i supose to fix this issue. Well i thought id get an old sound card i had and put it in, On the front it says Speedlink, thats all i know about it. When i installed it and put in the drivers, retarted PC, unplugged and plugged in my speakers and the exact same problem, i have sound like before but it is still really distorted some sounds are missing and on some games i can only hear certain things. I don't know what is wrong with it now that i have installed Realtek drivers, plus put in a sound card, which both give the same result. Maybe i should just plug in my old motherboard which i really don't want to seeing as it only holds 2 RAM chips -.- |

You might be so mucked up at this point that it might be better to just reformat and start over making sure that you know exactly what drivers etc you need to install before you start then just systematically go through it. Make sure to check your BIOS also to see that it is set correctly for whatever sound card/chip you are running. |
