Low Volume

Okay, so here's the story: I recently purchased myself a new computer, Asus P5Q PRO motherboard with Realtek ALC1200 onboard audio and Vista Home Premium 64bit.
Now on my other computers (with Windows XP, mind you) I can almost blow out my eardrums wearing my headset and turning everything up to max.
This, however, is nowhere near the case with this new machine and Vista. With everything turned all the way up (and yes, I mean EVERYTHING that can possibly be turned up, even checked the balance on all levels inside the properties for speakers) I only get about ~10% of what I can achieve with the other machines. I've tried different drivers, new and old, official and modded, none make any difference.
I've searched and searched, and come across lots of people with similar problems, but never any working solutions.
Well, I hope someone in here can help me, cause I'm totally out of ideas. If not, then maybe someone can point me in the right direction as to where I ought to search for further assistance.

Thanks in advance,

MohMoh

P.S. Cables have been checked, correct ports are being used, ALL volumes are set to max and no external volume controllers are being used.
