Vista - Failed to play test tone :(

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 Laptop.
Yesterday suddenly my speakers stopped working. Since then I have tried everything to get the sound back but no success.
Have also reinstalled the audio drivers .. but

Someone please help. TIA.

Drivers are here:

Toshiba - Australia and New Zealand

For every part of that laptop. Does Device Manager display an exclamation mark next to your sound card? If not, right click the sound device, uninstall the driver, reboot and see if Vista installs its own generic driver. Then right click the driver and select update.

Uninstalled the driver ... reinstalled from the above mentined source ... still no sound

Nothing seems to work ... is there any other solution ?
I cant even understand the reason for this problem ... anyone else facing the same problem ?

you could do a system restore if you have the system restore enabled, just restore it back to when the speakers worked.

Damn it ... there is no restore point for the glory days wen the speakers worked ... wat to do now ?

have you tried a repair install of vista? and to do this you need to install dvd
