I need help with WMP 11

Windows Media player works fine for me. The only thing I have a problem with is when I play a dvd there is no audio but the video does show can anyone help?

Beside no sound when playing dvd though WMP ....
Does it have sound when you watch you-tube ...or dc music .....?

yes for some reason only dvds. when i play a video file it does work fine.

What kind of file (*.avi, mkv, etc) are you playing? You are playing them in WMP11, correct?

well i mostly play avi. and wmv. i don't know of others yea i do play them in wmp

And the dvd player did work under a previous OS like xp? If you play a music cd do you get sound?. Im just rying to figure out if it is a system problem or hware problem

BTW welcome to vista64

You can go into device manager (type device manager in search) an go to the dvd icon open it and right click got properties.

It should look like this picture.
