No sound via headphones

Sorry if this has been asked before but I've searched back and didn't see anything similar.

I've recently lost all sound via headphones. When I go to play something with my headphones plugged in it just comes out of the speakers. I have tried two different pairs of headphones and both had the same problem. When I ran the "test" under sound devices it played the test in my headphones so I thought maybe it was just the program I was trying to listen to music under (iTunes) but I tried a few other programs and even websites but all the sound came out of my speakers and not the headphones plugged in.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: No sound via headphones

Hi,

I've got the same problem today and resolved it immediately!

Here's simple procedure.

Download the latest "Realtek AC '97" HD audio driver from ORIGINAL site: Realtek

Driver looks like this:

Vista, Windows7 Driver (32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file) R2.32 --- 2009/9/3 --- 35842k

Unzip files, find "Setup" icon, click on it and follow the installation procedure.

Hope it will help you too.

Good luck!

i hate to be the one to deliver bad news MuZiKmaN, but not everyone has a realtek AC'97 audio device, some people may, but some people may own a creative or even a generic sound card, the solution may be so much simpler than downloading and installing drivers all the time.
