I have no sound.

I think I must have downloaded an update, because there is no sound on this computer anymore.
I need to stop touching my computer; but I need some help.
I have a Compaq V6000 and I have no sound. Nothing.
The only thing that has sounds are the buttons to turn the volume up and down and mute button and the other button.
No I do not have my sound muted.
Help?

Re: I have no sound.

Please check your device manager to see if there is a question mark or exclamation mark by your sound.

Just type "device manager" in your START window to begin.

Au

And there isn't anything like that beside it. It says it's working fine too.

Re: I have no sound.

First - Check mute button on your notebook. Was this the problem? If not, proceed...

Second - What update did you install? Can you rollback to uninstall this update?

Third - Please flash your bios, update drivers...

Re: I have no sound.

I know when Vista updated my IDT sound driver it stopped my sound from working. I wonder if thats the case here. When you say update, did you allow Windows to update the sound driver for you? If you did then use the link lemur gave you and download the latest driver, then install that.

Re: I have no sound.

Ya I never trust Windows to find the correct driver.More often than not it will give you the wrong driver or say you're driver is fine even when its like 4 years old
