Vista - My Mic isn't working

I recently had a hard drive meltdown and picked up my laptop from Best Buy the other day after repairs were made. Well, my computer is working swimmingly, but the mic that used to work doesn't anymore. I need it for a lot of things and would greatly appreciate some help with this issue.

Might just be a driver. type device manager in search. go to the sound tab. right click and go to properties. should say working properly. If it has a yellow triangle on it or if it is missing you will need to downlaod the drive and install it.

yes, now i have thought about it, your old hard drive had all the latest drivers. with a new one, no drivers are included. Windows update would download necessary drivers automatically, but in this case, it never downloaded mic drivers.
