No audio after PSU replacement

Dell xps420. Had to replace the psu after upgrading graphics card. Everything working perfectly except no audio. Speakers work. Sound settings ok. volume up. nothing muted.
Control panel audio and device manager shows everything working. But SILENCE. Audio OK from USB headphones.
Is it poss that I have failed to connect something inside or knocked a wire off?
What feeds the green output jack socket?

Did you disconnect the front panel audio cable? If so, replace it, making sure that it is correctly orientated. If you didn't disconnect it, make sure that it is firmly seated on the motherboard header.

if the device manager found the wireless card its possible there are updates for the audio driver. Might want to try that first.

If the audio is being recognized I don't think its a cable loose / missing.
The front panel audio is the audio port in the front of the machine, probably behind a cover or next to a few usb ports.

Do you have the current audio driver?

I don't think this machine has an audio port at the front. Just Mic - headphone (is that an audio port?) - two usb and a 1394. I always had the speakers plugged in to the back.

Headphone is an audio output. Plug the speakers into that port and see if the speakers work... If they so then something went wrong with the rear port, I have no clue what, probably something simple...

Embarrassed! I looked in the Device manager and there were two active drivers for audio. One was ATI so maybe there was a conflict. Anyway changed the default to the other and got my sounds back! I guess the new graphics card installed sound without asking...
At least I did wire everything up OK!
Thanks :o

Don't worry, at least we know now that it was a driver issue and not a hardware issue. I'm glad your speakers are working now :)
